Introducing: Historic Traum-Häuser and their hosts

“Who are the faces behind the holiday accommodations on our portal?” – This is exactly what we set out to find out. With the “Traum-Häuser” campaign, we would like to give our hosts the opportunity to tell their story and share what makes their holiday home special. What’s more, the hosts will be giving us insights into the day-to-day running of their businesses, revealing their recipes for success, and giving us tips for things that holidaymakers absolutely shouldn’t miss during their stay.
In the second edition, we’ll be introducing you to three particularly historic holiday rentals.

Reetdachkate Koehn – historical flair in the bay of Kiel
Vacation in a house full of historical charm – that’s exactly what you can find in the Bay of Kiel, more precisely in Köhn. The thatched cottage was built in 1725 and can proudly claim the title of the oldest detached house in the village. If you like historical buildings with a lot of character, this is the place for you. The thatched cottage shines in new splendor after the extensive renovation in 2015 and inspires vacation guests with numerous antiques and small historical details. Up to 4 people can spend a relaxing vacation here on 80 m² between the Baltic Sea and the North Sea.

History meets modernity in the vacation home Eiche in the southernmost part of the Ortenau region
The vacation house Eiche has already experienced a lot: before it became today’s vacation accommodation, it was already a guardhouse or customs house, a police station and a local detention center. Already in the Middle Ages there was a town gate with a guardhouse, or customs house and tower on the site. The first evidence of the current building dates back to 1780. The historic charm has been preserved to this day and has been skillfully combined with a modern interior. Located on the edge of the Black Forest, up to 5 people can spend their vacations here on 100 m². The historic town of Ettenheim invites you to relax and decelerate and is the perfect starting point for many activities in the region.

Austragshaus Rhön – historical charm and comfort in Lower Franconia
The house dates back to 1713 and houses the last original preserved clay braided chimney in the Rhön. But hidden between the old half-timbering is a modern vacation accommodation. Already with the first steps through the door you feel the history and at the same time quite a lot of coziness. Up to 4 guests can spend a relaxing vacation here on 85 m². Thanks to the use of exclusively traditional building materials such as clay, it is also suitable for allergy sufferers. Host Sonja Röper dives with us into the over 300-year history of the house and also tells us what vacationers in the Rhön should not miss under any circumstances.
